Italians say 'no' (pronounced 'nò')
Only in french is 'non' (nɔ̃) used as 'no' (here opposite of 'yes')

Note however that 'non' ("noh-n") is used in italian as 'not' ("non andare lì" -> "do not/don't go there") so that's where the author might have taken it

Also, when they say papa it should technically be papà or papa' (accent on last vowel)
