I don't really get the message of this, but I don't think the girl deserved that punishment. Family is way more important than some stupid fucking village that sacrifices them to some murderous tree, though eating that heart was kinda fucked up.

I understand it if you sacrifice your life for someone, if its your choice. E.g. working your butt of for your children etc, but here its basically a lottery and probably everybody else in the town thinks: Thanks god it wasnt my daughter/sister/friend, that was chosen. Just a fucked up system.
