Weird how nothing really happened in this chapter. I thought we'd have an explanation for the chess board (e.g. illegal moves) or that the well would be a fake/trap but no, it was just MC reading his mail and walking in a straight line to the boss room.

Like Kiri Kiri said he is playing too well, they didn't expected that someone would be so strong at floor 3 so it was not really a challenge.
Well not a challenge until the boss room that is since the boss room of the 3th floor is something else.

Because that's just the way it was. Basically this chapter from the novel was an excuse to demo the new Blink ability. In the novel translation he briefly wondered if it was a throwaway stage
