OK, for anyone else that was confused by this, the Wikipedia link in the description explains it. I did not know the origins of Tanabata before this.

@justforthelulz: I really wish we could just go back to Batoto-style everyone-can-edit crowdsourced-tags days, the occasional deliberate troll incident was worth it for the consistently-correct tags.
Though I say that as someone who wouldn't have to play moderator to the result.
I've removed the troll tag on this one, at any rate. ~w~;
(Also, I think the title is supposed to in this case imply they were both late and so got there at the same time and thus met anyway, which possibly makes no sense with the legend being what it is but hey)

According to legend, the Milky Way separates these lovers, and they are allowed to meet only once a year on the seventh day of the seventh lunar month of the lunisolar calendar.
