I think the intention is that he just suddenly woke up with his memories of his past life intact, and that after a few seconds he remembered his current life. Regardless, it's just a flimsy excuse to have the MC immediately reincarnate and skip right to his preteen years instead of having to relive infancy.

Yeah it’s pretty unclear, but I believe he meant that his consciousness had already been in the kid for x years (reincarnation, after all) before finally remembering at whatever age he is now. Maybe he had been feeling he forgot other things previously, or maybe he meant that it took him a few hours. Or maybe the author and editor straight up made a mistake, which while very rare, def can happen

@kazamakj basically it's a matter of level caps, and he seems the type to always want to cap out whatever stats/abilities he can. I guess it's like a gear head who's been slaving away on supercharging what he thought was a good car, only to find out it could never get to the point he wanted EVER (After all there is persevering through adversity and then there is flailing against impossibility), and now he's been gifted with a brand new car that could be able to be reworked into a god-tier vehicle with the same level of work as the old one took to get to running with the big boys.
