I mean, a lot of wizards name spells after them in like all of fiction. D&D a bunch of the spells are named after the wizards who found them, like Bigby's Hand, or in the Witcher: Merigold's Hailstorm. So on and so forth. It's just the magic equivalent of a scientist of mathematician's theorem, discovery, etc being named after the person who did all the work on it. Darwinism and Pythagorean's theorem as just two.
