I usually do and I enjoy those lighthearted settings usually, but for some reason I couldn't with this one...I think it was the comment on "culture not flourishing" that kind of pulled me out of it and set me off.

Isn't it the idea here that basically things that were never mentioned in the original game don't exist, and that is retroactively justified by whatever? Like, somehow the only game that exists is chess, and there is printing, but effectively no literature (only 'serious' books or poetry).

@Levan072 It's because it's a popular board game in Japan. Personally, I would have gone with chess because I know it's a best-seller almost everywhere. Then Monopoly and maybe checkers cause I hate chess.
