The Villainess Lives Again - Vol. 1 Ch. 22

I see a lot of hate for the mother, but tbh I'm hoping for a redemption arc. Like @HOOfan_1 said there are possible legitimate reasons she is so bad, on top of her mental instability.

Honestly I feel pity for the mother to some degree. I also would like for our fmc to have a better relationship with her mom. At the very least the fmc deserves to have a nicer, more stable mother and if that is possible I hope it happens.

Mom is a crazy bitch. No redemption for her. She's just luck she doesn't die in this timeline.

I wish I could give this manhwa 10 for a hundred times. Love the art, coloring, and details. The artists are dope. The author is mmagical. And of course, the scanlation team is most fabulous. Thank you for the chapter, lovelies.

I don't see why he'd have to drop the corruption case too though? The human trafficking issue is big enough that they couldn't possibly let it go even if they did decide to pursue that corruption case.

Also! That bracelet pretty! Do diamonds really come in those colours?

@yannickq

Politics, he's giving up an inch here to take a mile down the road.
One of his flaws was that he's extremely rigid, now he has a scheming advisor with insider knowledge for everyone that he has to sway or take care of.

Which includes the emperor.

@yannickq By association it'd implicate and hurt Tia through Lawrence, at least until she's successfully married. And the Emperor would probably just quash the whole thing to protect his son if it came down to it which means it's an unproductive fight, so better to just give the Emperor a favor now so long at the human trafficking stops and those directly involved were punished. And anyway, association with criminals, however bad it looks, isn't enough to bring down Lawrence at this early junction because as he said he wasn't that close to the culprit anyway so better to get his guard down and make him think Cedric is still willing to be his ally in the future.

@KrimzonHawka if it doesn't hurt Lawrence (and it probably won't) it wouldn't hurt Tia.

But you're right, leaving out the corruption case means he won't be seen as a threat. Got carried away by public opinion since they seemed so supportive of it.

@yannickq I mean in terms of actually bringing any sort of criminal charges against Lawrence and inflicting a deathblow, you could still have damaged his reputation with rumors and scandal amongst the populace if his association was brought to public light which would also hurt Tia as well through their family connection. The Emperor seems to imply this as well in how he said Cedric wouldn't condemn Lawrence for Tia's sake. It doesn't have to be a mortal wound to still hurt, but that momentary satisfaction simply wouldn't have been worth getting Lawrence's guard up in the future. ;)

I like that the ML isn't a POS like other stories, and even though Tia is calculating we actually see the good on her to root for her.

Her mother can go fly a kite, along with her son and the Emperor

@noodlearms I don't think it's so much bias as the fact she sees both her children, not as people, but as means to further her own wealth and power. Her son can simply be used for more. Her daughter is a useful tool but not the gold mine being the mother of a potential king is.

@universallyincrisis I haven't seen the raws but it does sound like the mother is going to have a "moment". Still, if a redemption arc occurs, I imagine a lot of stuff will need to happen before the mother goes down that path. It is a little early in the story after all.

That said, I'm not really expecting a redemption arc. I just think it would be nice to see it.

Why does everyone immediately hate the Mielle character? Does she share a name with another Manhwa girl?
