I mean, the girl he'll potentially marry is not the greatest catch either with her later scheming nature, but the guy just seems pitiful in how our FL is trying to get him into her grasp. So much so that I think our FL deserves someone better even with revenge in mind. He will hardly be of use after the initial shock value when she steals him away.
