-> had she done that, mielle will most likely frame aria for poisoning veri. Backing the idea that aria hates mielle. Not only would aria be framed, so will annie as an accomplice. Plus, since aria decided to fake the poisoning, not only will it clearly define veri as a suspect, it would also prompt an investigation for aria since she was the victim and also the chance to spread rumors about mielle.
The decision was a great one that would've killed multiple birds with one stone compared to just killing veri with the tea which only does eliminate one of mielle's pawns.
