Grooming her to become exceptionally great at most things? Seriously, that has been obvious since he literally stated so in the first chapter. He said he was going to help her become outstanding

But that is grooming in the same sense as a personal teacher would groom an heir to something. Nothing creepy present there.

If you are thinking he did so for himself then you are sorely mistaken. At this point he has no intention of being in a relationship with her as he understands his position and how ranks work in this world.

He does sincerely hope she finds love and happiness at school though. But she is effectively set on "capturing" him on a level he doesn't expect.

He taught her a bit too well. ^_^,
