In a way, I can sort of see how Asahi can be that way. All her life, and I meant that literally, people only spoiled her. Her world view was very skewed because people only been nice to her. I would say she was low IQ but she was very naive, self-centered (because she only been treated that way), seems to never have to struggle because people always look after her.

About all the comments about being to stupid to realm free or to live, do you mean MC's "friend" or that human government? I don't know, what kind of new weapon they posses, but if it isn't some sort of large scale mass destruction weapon, they are fucked. Imagine you are part of a large faction and another smaller faction is no big deal, even though it is stupid, greedy and holds no justifiable grunge against you, just because you live the kind of happier live, they could also enjoy, but they prefer hating you and living in dirt. But overall they are harmless. Now imagine they pick up knifes and knife down your people. Though your faction still holds the overwhelming stronger forces in numbers. What will happen?

The priests seem to think that she's stupid, and they were plotting on getting rid of her soon, so sending her into a war equipped with nothing but a regular rock seems like something they would do.

Lesser spirits are everywhere yes, but they still seem to be individuals, it's not like they are a hive mind who constantly share all information at once.
The once who know who Ruri is most likely followed her and left the kingdom and the once who are still there have no reason to tell them.
The "bigger" spirits likely have the smaller once keeping them up to date but they also aren't quite as zealous as the lesser spirits and would not wipe out a country because they said mean things about her.
