I can honestly say that this manga would be a lot better without the... "liberties" that the translator is taking.
At least, I assume they're taking liberties. I can't imagine a lot of those lines being accurate translations.

I was already weirded out that the last chapter seemed to reference Brexit, or at least the European Union, but I feel this is very localized now.

In general, however, stories that are surreal and fundamentally not grounded referencing real world concepts is always strange — it only works in grounded stories.
