Reminder that a few celebrities, especially Tony Hawk (even though he was a solid part of a lot of people's childhoods), are not recognized when they are out and about doing things like grocery shopping.

It's one of those cases where because you don't see them on the stage or a red carpet or with the tools of their trade, your brain just cannot make the connection because it a horribly complicated mass of neurons that would rather take short-cuts (context clues) to recognize someone than to work and flip through every single face you've ever seen in your life and match them to the person you're talking to. Plus, there are also people who can't remember faces and names and have to rely on context clues to recognize someone...if they can at all (I'm one of them and let me tell you, family gatherings can be fucking awkward at times).

So, honestly, him not recognizing her until the news release is not as far-fetched as a number of you think it is.
