This Irreplaceable Hell - Vol. 1 Ch. 3 - The Fourth Heroine

Why is this just a one-shot!

Okay, this would suck as a full-blown series, but another couple of chapters of escaping the romcom shackles would've been fun.

I liked that breakdown of the changing room scene.

Why'd you lock the door!?
Remember you need to be in a different state of undress than the girls next to you...

Ha

I want to see what happened in the war manga as well; even if it is just to see how the romcom character dies.

Lame. I thought it was going to go full blown meta and they try to escape the shackles of romcom but they jump out of the harem frying pan into the yuri fire.

Like seriously? They had an A++ plot and threw it all away for a scene in a locker

It makes a good point of how ridiculous some of those cliches are. Maybe the teacher should get a copy of the manga so he can find where protagonist would be hiding anyway.

It's a bit like those potentially great bits of music that get ruined by trashy dubstep fart synths because the composer has a BRAAP fetish, except here the fetish is yuri.

Can't help but laugh a lil' at the fourth girl's face at the end, it's like "This was not what I intended!"

been seeing a lot of meta subversion of genre recently, though this one doesn't feel like a parody even though it does make fun of rom-com
i feel like it could develop into a real manga, but just a feeling

@Gotim18 I think the males of this "world" are not aware that they live in such an idiotic world, it makes sense that way.
People complaining about Yuri...

The fact that is Yuri, that they no longer care for the guy is actually the cherry on top... Or put in another way a big "fuck you!" To the harem genre.
Even in the Yuri world there are harems and guess what, they're still awful...

Lol. Lol, lol, lol.

Cognitive blindspots are always so fun to watch. If you really wanna decode it like that, then guess what - this oneshot scoffs at negative traits associated with more intense forms of escapism that both mentioned readership bases posses, even if they express them in different ways. That you pointed out some of them yourself makes it all more delicious.

@mikegnesium

Yeah we figured that out. One look at the "4th heroine's" face says it all, but that doesn't mean tha we would have liked a more indepth ending than a 5 second shot at yuri. Its the fact that it was just shoved in there at the end (literally I guess) that makes it feel that the author really just wanted two girls in a locker.

Yeah we figured that out.
Wasn't sure about that. That's why i quoted the person using one of those genres as "shitty" subgenre of their preferred queer one (that can never ever do wrong), and highlighted specific phrases.

5 second shot at yuri
it was just shoved in there
the author really just wanted two girls in a locker
Replace "wanted" with "needed" and all those points add up to making another layer of lower resolution meta-narrative playfulness on part of the author.

doesn't mean that we would[n't] have liked a more indepth ending
I'm gonna assume this is the way that sentence was supposed to look, and in accordance - i don't know what sort of ending you could've imagined for this kind of oneshot - boobs comic relief exploring newfound side of her sexuality? Is it yuri if only one person is into it? Unless you wanted forced magical conversion kissu to happen, but playing tropes straight here wouldn't feel right, as the whole thing was imo about (crude) subversion of them.
