This Italian Girl Has Become Such a Freeloader - Ch. 3

@EnderWin Generally no, since it's a system-wide defect in one of the components of melanin; there are seven or eight different genetic hiccups that can cause oculocutaneous albinism (what most people think of when they hear "albino")) to varying degrees. There's also a related disorder, ocular albinism that affects only the pigments in the eyes (and not skin, hair, etc.).

In both cases, the most common side effects tend to be with vision, so IRL Francesca would probably not only be wearing sunglasses outside but likely need glasses.

There are other conditions that cause lack of pigment in just parts of the body, such as piebaldism (causing white patches of hair) and vitiligo (pale patches of skins, typically on the arms or legs).

I guess it's called manga for whatever fantasy the author have but why forcing real life situation if they dont even bother make an effort researching. She'll get a pass as an elf, not a 20 y.o asian looking italian with nonsense albino.

@Fushiginiku @jazz9 There's leucism, which is... Let's call it a mild form of albinism (not really related) that doesn't have some of the worst side effects (red eyes, complete lack of melanin, extreme vulnerability to direct sunlight exposition) but comes with diminished pigmentation of various types.

EDIT - More details here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leucism

Still, realistically speaking I think the author just though white hair would look cool and that's pretty much it for his excuse.

she was 3 right? how good is her memory?!

He was 6 right? how bad is his memory?!

@ak0w not remembering something with 6 years old is not really having a bad memory. I don't remember anything before 8. But remember all the rest.

@draxdeveloper I remember stuff from when I was around 2.5-3 years old, not much before then. But yeah, people not remembering anything before 6 isn't necessarily bad memory, their long term memory probably wasn't as developed then.

I was one of the few kids who developed a little too early to the point I got along with like year 6s when I was like 2 years old. I mean heck, I learnt highschool level physics back then.

Socially though, I suffered a lot when it came to things like jokes, indirect meanings etc. - Even though I was able to spell "big words" like orchestra and learn highschool level physics before others could spell words like "weird" - I didn't understand deeper meanings that would allow me to enjoy most films, manga or even anime until I was basically 15. So yeah, I got my chuunibyou years when I was 15, but was capable of discussing einstein level shit with others at the age of 8. Often when it came to things like tests, I would usually get bad marks for language related reasons, such as weirdly worded sentences such as "what can start it to crash?" Even to this day I still get confused with questions like that, or in other cases where it requires a large working memory such as calculating 13/23 to 2 decimal places without pen/paper to write on.

There's so much wrong here...

...but I guess it's just someone's romance fantasy so bringing reality into the matter is probably pointless.

@Daviot thanks man. I remember my knowledge from 2 years ago now. Anyways I misinterpret the dialogue because I've never heard of people using Albinism for specific part so I thought they meant full body albinism.

@Akikako me too, but I don't have many hopes, since she was already putting ketchup on the eggs in the first chapter...

Also "nervous" isn't the word I would have used; "annoyed", more likely...

@Ryomi Of course the definition of albinism (not to mention Italian) can be altered if it's for the sake of an aesthetic waifu.
