This Villainess Wants a Divorce! - Vol. 1 Ch. 30

Great, so now I feel slightly bad for the Empress... Though it still isn't clear why she's doing what she's doing, we're starting to get a picture that's making it clear what her motivations are.
Either way, she sure has picked the worst way of going about doing it.

On a different note, thanks for the chapter!

Well that dude is probably the dead girl's brother or something. He looked too much like her.

@Despada I think it's been clear ever since the beginning why she's doing it. She could live peacefully even if her son didn't become the next emperor but she doesn't want that. As she said before, currently she is the empress and on the future she wants to be the emperor's mother. Basically, power and prestige. Had she not intervened on the dispute for the throne she probably would be able to live well off considering her previous status. She might wish for her son's happiness but in the grand scheme of things it's just a consequence to her.

With power comes enemies and enemies tend to hold a grudge.
If she were to lose her power in an instant then she and her son would be dead or worse.
She is the type who believes the end justifies the means.

@Ribath There's power and status, but I think the empress fears the obscurity of exile the most. Given how the current emperor's pushing for Cesar to become the next ruler, she sees it as a zero-sum game where her loss will lead to being stripped of her authority and exiled to some forgotten satellite palace, doomed to live in lonely insignificance until her dying day like the silver haired concubine. So she'll fight to uphold her power and relevance in the palace by all means necessary.

“ I’d rather slit my throat”
Bitch, you are waaay too greedy

Just guessing, but that white hair butler's the son of that white hair woman who's the wife of the previous emperor with that logic that guy is thier uncle and a rightful hire for the throne...and let your imagination run wild😁

@zz2000 I don't think so, she's been planning this for ages. Only recently has Cesar become the most likely one to succeed the throne. And if I'm not mistaken she's from a "superior" background while Cesar's mother was a maid(I'm not entirely sure about this but it's something similar). So, if she hadn't done anything to Cesar he wouldn't have any reason to exile her. Sure, she could stop having her status but she would have a place to go back to. That's why I think she does what she does for status and power more than anything.
Obviously, fear of what might be done to her if Cesar becomes the emperor is a motive but that was not the thing that drove her to intervening with the "battle" for the throne.

@MaNoChan he may be, but at the same time, Canaria has no idea who he is. Therefore, he's not from the novel and relatively new to her mother's retinue. Which means he's either a ripple from Canaria's timeline changes or another reincarnator who used timeline knowledge to position himself perfectly for gaining this particular position. If the latter, why? Why align yourself with the "losing" side. I can't remember, but I think he did something favorable for Canaria too and seemed unusually coy about it too.

oscar is the ghost son?
i don't know her name so use the alias not that rude right?
and cesar is a wife lmao
@Beregorn that's (highly) possible but i don't think noah is not emperor son due to empress personality that she's refuse to live if she fall (iirc she say she better die if she'll fall to ruined or something like that)

This butler wasn't in the original story, remember.
And Canaria probably remember everything, even sub-characters, so like it was said before, he can only be here because of Canaria little change in the story, or because he reincarnated too in this world.
