I must say, I think the pacing of the Novel feels a lot better. After starting to read the manga again... Well, it feels quite rushed. I much prefer the way the book does crafting scenes, for example. Ah well, I guess it's a drawback of the medium.

Shame the novel isn't currently being translated. The manga is currently the only way to fuel our addiction for the series.
