Mizore's inner dialogue on page 5 is a reference to a Japanese fairy tale. It it, an old couple saves a crane that then comes back to them disguised as a young woman. The old couple adopt the crane/woman, and each night she weaves a beautiful cloth for them to sell. However, she insists to do this behind closed doors (as Himari here), as when the old couple finally opens the door to see her weaving, she is revealed as a crane and has to leave, never to return.
