Tomo-chan wa Onna no ko! - Vol. 8 Ch. 923 - I Don't Want To Be A Burden

@Frozeneye Fair enough, i would hate to be an author because its easy to start a series but infinitely harder to have an ending that a majority of readers would enjoy.

@Wnf
Yeah, endings are tricky with long running series. Recently had a huge discussion with some friends about which series actually had a good ending and my only contribution was that I really liked the ending of Hellsing.

@Dagger
True, but I actually had some hope growth had been made, but now it seems far less than I expected ...

... yeah Tomo, that was the correct reaction. There is a limit how stupid you can act, this isn't some fighting manga boy.

@Wnf with the unfortunate reality being that regardless of how good the journey is the destination can ruin it. You could be sent on a year long theme parks, hookers and DMT tour with unlimited spending money but if the end is a one way time travel ticket to 1944 Auschwitz Birkenau as an inmate then that whole trip wouldn't exactly be worth it...

And if the journey itself is arduous the ending payoff has to be even more worth the effort. Like change the above tour to a Soviet Gulag "escape room" tour with the final destination being a maximum Security European prison; ultimately the ending to that would be an improvement over what proceeded it but it still fucking sucks.

This is the key to resolving conflicts in shounen fighting manga. Beat the stupidity out of your enemies or in this case, your lover. (Ofc I’m half-joking btw, and am quite aware the genre is different.)

Sorry, I just had to....
Take this! My love! My anger! And all of my sorrow! Erupting... burning.........PUNCH!

@nehnehneji

"This hand of mine glows in rage! It shouts out for me to knock some sense into you! Take this! My LOVE! My ANGER! And all of my SORROW! Erupting! TOMO! PUUUUUUUUUUNCH!"

Alternate melodramatic translation:

Tomo: I...it's okay if I don't wait for your return?

Jun: Yeah. I have to leave to fight a war... (against your dad). But since I'm a weak grunt being sent to te frontline, I don't think I can survive in the battlefield.
Jun: I'll try my best but I might not return alive. If I don't get back, then... (don't wait for me and find someone else to love and be happy.)

Tomo: Are you freaking kidding me? *punch*

Her dad and Jun are treating her like property, and this whole thing is like...weird. It's like the fight is a kind of contract that will let her go from being owned by her father to being owned by Jun. I would be mad as hell, too. Honestly, I think ignoring them was more effective than directly confronting them. It's like she's reminding them that she has a will of her own, and they legit can't handle it.
But...I've honestly wanted her to haul off and punch him in the face since he pulled this BS. I approve.

Punch him again.
