If we go by how this manga operates, I am not buying the MC's tears and breakdown. At some point there would be a explanation how he did this because he predicted that the old guy will try using the girl and then once again will manage to resolve the situation because of his superiority to everyone else.

It's pretty obvious that the old guy is a scammer. After all that's what cult leaders generally are, and his use of magic tricks just further shows this. As for how he obtained that info, if he didn't know about it beforehand he could have just bought it from the admins.

I'm not buying the cult leader's "power" any one bit. To me, it seems like Yutori is just... really lucky. Perhaps to finally fix her from being almost completely useless, the author turned her into some incredibly lucky, naturally-good-at-gambling character instead.
