I kind of have this problem with english translations.
Are 7-9 grades and 10-12 grades both called Highschool?

I thought he was talking about English, not Japanese. Like, maybe if he reads a Spanish or French translation they are not both High School.

I bet originally in japanese they refer to the 7-9 as kokousei and 10-12 as gakousei to notice the difference (besides the age fact however that girl is just so tiny)

Anyway, this is why most translators go with Junior High and High School, respectively, to differentiate between the two in English. Middle/Junior High School students aren't usually translated as "high school students", for example, to avoid this kind of confusion that he had.

@Silfir That's not a skirt.... its just long enough to cover the legs and be seen as a skirt. Fashion design.
