Tonari no Furi-san ga Tonikaku Kowai - Vol. 3 Ch. 18

@Vasqueztion Nekota's name is 猫田 in Japanese, with 猫 meaning cat, and 田 being just the most generic kanji for a name ever. Kinoue literally just named the guy "cat dude" in Japanese. It's good sh*t.

Protect that... smile?

@crrows
It was mainly an observation that he is a representation of his namesake, which is highly prevalent in Komi, what with the cat mouth and the "hand paw" thing.

But, real talk, who isn't aware that "neko" is "cat" on this site? I expect my dad to not know, not weebs. Fucking weebs.

> who isn't aware (you asked for it)
I don't set that expectation for anyone that isn't a native speaker or JLPT certified (at any level, since it's one of the basic kanji). That goes for even unrepentant weabs, which many of my friends are. That isn't to say they have zero capacity for picking up a word or two here and there, or even something simplistic like その猫ちゃんかわいいね~, but I sure as hell don't expect them to keep "common" terms and phrases straight. That's the translator's job.

Also please read the above Japanese in Norio Wakamoto's voice. Thank you.

It's awkward.. but protect that smile!
And bless the translator to make the one that Commissioned and us happy!
