Implying there is some difference between "hamburg steak" and a burger pattie without any of the other stuff in this case. He made it exactly the same way. And it would be better with the bun and the salad and some cheese, etc.

FUCK ME that is my exact complaint. Burgers (ground meat in general, really) and rice just... don't go together. I've tried, it was bad. Something about the textures manages to make both components really gross.

I find Japanese sticky white rice to be rather unpleasant in general. I suppose it does enable it to be eaten with chopsticks, as opposed to less sticky varieties, but I'd still rather eat any of the non-sticky Indian rice varieties.
Still, they've got different taste-buds and different ideas about what does or doesn't taste good, and it is strange how often they forget that in isekai settings.

It's best with potatoes and some cream based sauce, but works with rice too. I'd just make the sauce different, maybe more pepper and chili for potatoes, whilst mustard for rice.
Also adding some extra spices to the patties does a world of difference. Don't need anything weird, just whatever herbs you feel like.
