(Fact being this earthquake event wouldn't happen if the other thing didn't happen.)

People saying that "it got axed" don't know how to read huh? It has been commented like 3 times in this chapter already, the magazine died not the manga. The author could've moved the series to other magazine but choose to end it instead for whatever reason, which is a shame because Torako is dang adorable.
