well the side characters' stories will never be fully resolved but I guess this series was pretty good while it lasted

Pointed in that direction by reading what has been posted in Reddit about this chapter so far, I took a glance at the raws for Himitsu no Reptiles. It is not at all like this series. All it really has in common is a set of girls (not related to one another) who are crazy about reptiles, and a guy who is interested in one of the girls but not so much in the reptiles. The reptiles, however, are depicted extremely well in that manga.

The guy's initial reaction to the main girl: "This is one strange person!"

Dude's such a pain for his old buddies. I guess it's because he has no hobbies or interests whatsoever, so he dedicates his whole life to the girl. Of course it's a life limited by having to help at the shop, but that's something he does because he has to do it, not because he wants to do it.
