Uchi no Musuko wa Tabun Gay - Vol. 1 Ch. 10 - Expectations

Ah... it's sweet how she doesn't just wave off his worries, but wants to support him. And it's actually pretty cool his dad was showing them both how to clean! A lot of cis guys wind up a little helpless with those things.

aw, there are some districts in Japan that allow partnership certificates! not quite a wedding but still....!

If only they turned down just a bit the silly faces, juuusttt a little bit...personally, I would feel more comfortable...

Also, that folding, dad reminds me of marie kondo xD

Well, he is wrong about not being able to give a grandchild to his father, he (and his partner) can go to a clinic and get a woman to bear a child to them, nowadays, it is no big deal...

At least in this case, there is still a younger son.

His case is a little like mine. I am gay, so I won’t be able to give my parents grandchildren, but I don’t feel much guilty as there are still my younger brother and sister. Perhaps I would feel guiltier if I were an only child.

@illusion_moon
lol My only sibling is also gay, so my parents (mom mostly) puts a ton of pressure on me for grandkids... but I have no interest in children lol. Told my mom the best she'd get out of me is an adopted grandchild and probably only if whoever I'm with really wanted to.

Now she hopes that maybe my sister's potential wife would do IVF or something bc she knows my sister would never do it.

@Kanami-chan
plot twist, dad is shinzo abe

The mother surely should have discussed her suspicions about her son's sexuality with the father by now...
Big obvious lack of communication on her part, and the son is getting distressed over it. Father's there just trying his best to support a teenage son he doesn't know as well as he could, not knowing he's stepping on all these landmines. It's going to make it impossible for the two to bond properly unless the son comes out, which is too much of a burden to push on him.

Aren’t his sons a bit young for the “get married, give me grandkids” pressure?

@trapsarebetter
It's not a joke, it's a conceit. It's a literary device to hang the story around. It is "rehashed" because it is the reason for the manga to exist.

@Bunny_Pierrot
Sure, but that's no reason to not warn her husband about being potentially insensitive, and I'm assuming her husband doesn't want to be causing his son any distress. She is just allowing her son to feel distressed by not doing so, and letting distance grow between father and son.

Plot twist:

Hiroki isn't gay. He's bisexual. Yuuri is the gay one. (His name is one letter away from the word for "lesbian")
