A slave dealer should logically have some leverage over the slave. Can't imagine it being easy to get someone to be a slave. A rebellious slave would be even worse. It'd be like him selling defective goods. Him accepting the terms might seem like an easy way out, but it actually means that his enslavement system is pretty weak. A slave should not be able to choose death as an option me thinks.

If you read the second chapter it makes even less sense.

No problems with the princess' point of view though.
