To be fair, that is a naive assumption. Those who are into this should already expect what to get. Bland MC guy explicitly made for self inserting purposes, women who throw themselves at his feet because he happens to not be an asshole and pesky nobles who are just there to show how better the MC is by comparison.

Improving the story would imply some sort of conflict and a challenge the MC would need to rise up to, but that would break the immersion and we can't have that, can we?
