I think the green things when they born is fluid of cloning machine.

5y/o rabbit in human year is 45y/o
In wild life rabbit only live span around 1-2 years thought.

So basically it easer to make new clone than keeping old unproductive rabbit.
The story can be more darker if fuwami, mofuko, & another rabbit intentionly throw away into fake paradise island for dying there but somehow they accidently go to earth instead before the expired date.
