Using Icons to follow from list

I think the idea of adding a small checkbox (or something) like in the recent updates/browsing, was already dismissed, for the manga/results lists anyway; though I didn't see it on the sticky post so I'm not sure now...

Anywho- Basically a similar idea as to how you can mark as read from a search results page, not needing to actually go to the mangas page. Iirc a large reason why, was to not clutter the pages with lots of other additions/changes like this.

That makes sense to me, but I do still think it would have been worth adding a small field/box/etc.; but I thought of a way to add this feature, without adding anything to the lists, and it may be a relatively simple thing.

Modify the icons- the book/dj/etc icons that are shown between the cover and the title of whatever series. When not followed the design stays as it is, but if marked it shows as green, and if set to dropped, maybe red. Clicking the icon could then also change from grey to green, green to red, and then back to grey.

I'm sure staff or others would have some better ideas, especially for tweaks and adjustments to this to make it better, so this may be a real rough draft still needing a lot of polishing.

And I do know that it's a feature that, yes a fair number may not use too often, but I still think it would be helpful.

@Otakuman706 I don't really follow. Are you talking about the Latest updates page or the front page specifically, because all title listings in all view modes already include a follow dropdown.

Huh, maybe it's due to being on a mobile device... Or maybe my site settings or a combo of the two.
Don't have that on the main page, or updates, nothing except for in the search results for me, those listings have the dropdown.

I mentioned it once a looong while back, but the idea of a dropdown like that on the updates/browse page(s) was said to be too much- too cluttered- and since I didn't see it, I figured it was never adopted. Thought the icon idea would be a good middle ground, but if the dropdown is supposed to be shown like that, I'm happy. Well with the idea I mean, still not sure why I don't actually see it lol.

Yeah, it's not there on either of those pages specifically, like I asked.

A dropdown probably wouldn't fit on the frontpage with the design being what it is. The updates page is practically abandoned, the design there is ancient.

In any case though, the whole follow system is going to be replaced with a new one, and we'll have to come up with new designs for all these lists anyway. The suggestion, as you made it, won't really be exactly relevant in the first place for v5. I'll keep the sentiment in mind though.
