Usogui - Vol. 23 Ch. 251 - Even So, Humans Are Still Savage

Dont think he is gonna wipe the floor but he might win. Caracal its still too much of a thread to go down like a bitch now.

Holy hell, double spread worth of greatness
Will this be a stomp or an even fight now

I was wondering when Rodem was gonna make an appearance. Seemed only natural at this point.

After so many volumes since his first appearance, Rodem is back!

Not gonna lie, I don't like this. I thought that Marco no longer needed Rodem to activate his full strength. This was established way back, during the fight with Kyara and furthermore during fight with Minowa, when Kyara said that the man who beat him was Marco, not Rodem. As a result we see Marco beating Minowa without the need to transform.

I get that this chapter is trying to say, that the one who wins is not the strongest, but most savage, but still.. This feels like the author just flushed lot of character development for Marco down the toilet, just because "double personality = cool".

@Rooster The author in this chapter was trying to say that the one who wins is not the strongest, nor the smartest or the most savage, but the one who is able to adapt to the situation. Marco was no match for Caracal, and Rodem has always been able to make better use of Marco's physical capabilities, it would make logical sense to rely on him for now. Don't worry,
Marco will come to terms with Rodem in this fight
.

@Ironside75
Just like "Marco", it should be a western name.
And this is the official poker cards of Usogui.

@veshv its Rodemu for japanese, because you cant have the end of words without vocal letter beside "n". so the actual name is like TL said Rodem a western name, also im not sure if Rodemu even have a meaning in japanese.

I was thinking that since the Caracal flashback was revealed that "awakened" Caracal is still Caracal, it would be a good time for awakened "Rodem" to become Marco (though I didn't think much of it since it still isn't my preferred match-up).

On the other hand it's somehow still a shame that we're trading between this awesome fight and my still-preferred fight in the car. I suspect we'll get a bit of a glimpse next chapter, but only so long as there is solid conclusion to the Marco fight.

@Lithe it makes sense if by the end of this Marco becomes able to use Rodem's abilities without losing control, as a contrast to Caracal who becomes someone else even if he retains his memories.

Man, this manga is so fucking good, it's really one of my all-time favorites. Good writing, insane action that's not super far from the edge of realism and yet insanely fucking epic, insanely good art, interesting topics, creative showdowns, amazing characters and development, etc... Not only is it one of my favorites, but I wouldn't be able to enjoy it this much and at this pace if it weren't for the amazing people at Team Duwang so I really want to thank you guys from the bottom of my heart, you all are great and I love you all, keep up the good work <3

Now, to this chapter: it really pays off to pay attention to details in this manga. For example, Caracal's ears keep switching between his realistic looking ones and an actual Caracal's ears all the time; I really admire Ranko for being so quick on her feet, it's insane how good she is at thinking quickly in emergency situations, even though there is still a risk associated with bringing out Rodem, it is still better to risk maybe being killed (by Rodem), than sit still and be definitely killed (by Sleeping Caracal). Not only did she realize this but she also quickly came up with a plan to use Leo as a distraction so she could go around and inject Marco. Other good examples of cool details in this chapter alone are how Ranko is depicted as a snake, but out of her two fangs, one is gone (because Hyougo is dead) and the other is breaking (because Leo is injured), or how the abandoned building in Marco's head is surrounded by a massive graveyard due to all the people he was forced to kill.

I'm kind of split on whether or not to like this development, I mean yeah, Marco will likely finally come to terms with Rodem and maybe become even stronger, but I thought that had already happened during the Hangman arc and the Minotaur arc, since he was able to defeat Kyara without being injected (whether or not Sleeping Caracal is stronger than Kyara is debatable, but I'd say they're definitely at least in the same category, with (imo) Sleeping Caracal being stronger maybe), and now all of a sudden Rodem makes a return? I mean, Rodem is fucking awesome, don't get me wrong, and I can't wait to see how this match goes (as well as the car one), I just hope the Marco character development for this fight is worth it, in the end.

@TheInvisableKid

Yeah, there's an ongoing one named Batuque - https://mangadex.org/title/31534/batuque

Worked on by Team Duwang too, so it's pretty cool

If you go to the Author's Twitter or Instagram, I believe he has videos of himself doing Capoeira
