Usogui - Vol. 36 Ch. 391 - Hand Chopper

I was curious because I started playing this game with friends and the result tended to be a loop when both players knew what they were doing. I'm surprised Neronero fell for that.

@the9813 Pretty sure they're counting down to 0.

Thinking the time is a decoy anyway. BK knows Nero Nero is experienced at this game so he wouldn't think to be faster than him on his first ever try, Yakou noticed something else before he noticed the time and he was looking at the cigar. I'm thinking that's the key to this. Maybe BK just asked for more time to wait for his cigar to burn out in order to... throw it at Neronero's hand to burn him and get him to point out 5 fingers or just the wrong number of fingers? That's why he's watching so intently to figure out the best timing? Probably something like that. The way he confirmed the hand rule and then tried to distract from it by asking for the time is very suspicious, so I'm thinking something in that direction is very likely. Last chapter BK also thought he couldn't win but he saw his winning strategy while looking at the cigar in his hand, so I'm pretty sure that it's the key. Also, everybody is either a genius or has superhuman strength in this manga :).

How long will this batch be?

@the9813
Counting down from 5:00 total, so it freezes when a player's turn ends and restarts when their turn begins again. It's a smart thing for a match where the game is actually on a permanent loop.

Yakou thinking the same essential thing as when he met Baku for the first time, but being on the other "side" this time, was enjoyable to see. The fact that he also realized Baku's method to win is nice to see. The dynamic of No. 0 + Usogui lives on after all.

Think he might have actually just been looking at his hand itself (given he particularly stares at his pinky a few pages later). Baku going through with the plan that I'm thinking he's considering would be insane though.

@Veshv Could be, but I'm pretty sure Yakou was looking at the cigar in this chapter though, he also figured out what BK was planning so I'd think he'd be looking at his hand if that was the key. He could also be planning on breaking some of Neronero's fingers too, also it's hard to keep your pinky in when your ring finger is out so maybe that has something to do with it. But that looking at your pinky pose is often seen when a character picks their nose or ears in a goofy way or whatever, although that could be bait. Also, why else would BK risk burning his lips to keep the cigar in his mouth? He could have put it away before the match since he knew he wouldn't be able to use his hands for it properly for 5 minutes, no need to burn himself if he's not going to do something with it. Could be wrong though, curious to see what will happen.

im a bit confused, doesnt neronero have advantage because he has more time left then?

@the9813
Yeah, Neronero is going to win at this rate.

@299792458
Maybe. My assumption would be he's burning himself to have a reason to excuse himself from the match for enough time to enact what his plan would be. He could also be using the cigar as a diversion to mess up Neronero's fingers in some way as well though. Looking forward to what happens.

@the9813
Yeah, you're right.

@belkrax
It's the other way around, BK is using up more time to make his moves and will time out first, so he's the one who 'fell' for it. (Though we all know he's got a trick up his sleeve)

@299792458
It'll be somewhere in the 400s! 😁

There is actually two stupid ways to win but I don't think Baku will use them to win.

The first is to run away while it's not your turn. So the clock of the adversary go drops to 0.
The second is to cut off one of your (or your opponent's) fingers. Thus the total of fingers in one hand becomes 4 and not 5. This will break the loop.

I think, We have to re-read this arc (Protoporos) attentively to understand future story perfectly.

@Naiyro
When Baku use stupid strategy, there is another meaning involved. For example, cutting your finger to win and to make Lalo think something.

Pretty sure Baku is gonna do what many people are suggesting. He did after all reconfirm the exact rules of the game and has something insane in mind.

Lmao was the 5 second rule meaning the entire game would have concluded in 5 seconds (each) instead? Doesn't seem like it. That's kind of a big rule change, I suppose time is indeed the distraction.

Thanks a lot guys.
As others have suggested, Baku could run away when it's not his turn, burn the other guy's hand, disable a finger of his own or the other person's, ...
We'll see how it plans out!

Since baku likes to suffer along his partners like a masochist I'm going with cutting off a finger to mirror Yakou's broken fingers.

Whenever someone specifically confirms the rules, it means they're definitely trying to skirt around it. Reminds me of Kaji during the KY Declaration game.

That being said, Nero is clever. I'm thinking he'll dodge whatever Usogui's first move is (dropping the cigar on his fingers?) but fall for a second, more tricky maneuver.
