Usogui - Vol. 40 Ch. 429 - An Island For Outsourcing

So it doesn't end when one of them runs out of air bios, they actually have to drown for the game to end.

Damn, that means there will be some way to keep playing even without any air bios as long as they find a way to survive within the tank.

holy shit theres no loophole for both living?! what a game this is one of my worst fears come alive ahah

This is the part where Baku reveals his secret underwater Navy Seals training.

I know next to nothing about poker, so this climactic game between Baku and Lalo is probably gonna be completely lost on me. Lol...

So that was they meant with a drowning pain.

I love the high level of animosity between Baku and Lalo.

Now I need to read the rules of poker. It wasnt really hard as far as I recall, we had a poker match back then when Kaiji fought the loan shark.

Since the match only end when one person die, I wonder if they could somehow force the other to drown so the match will end early. So even if a person is winning the poker match, that person still died because of timing or something. Well, looks like we have to wait for the rules to see if that could happen.

Look at the background of Baku

Pretty nice

Poker time!

I really love how Lalo just pushes back on Baku. You can really feel the hatred between them. Great character.

"The match ends when one person drowns and dies" is definitely defined for a reason, will almost certainly come up in some way

Lalo is already at the upper hand mentally, since he's originally supposed to die anyways this match doesn't really lose him anything

i wonder if they must play poker
i mean if you win enough amount of bios you can basically just breath air while you wait your opponent air run out

@sakasd In poker there is a mandatory bet, called ante. So there is no way for one person to just stop playing, while still in the game.

@sakasd
As Rooster already said, you have to keep raising, or call once the cards are down. Kakerou will definitely put in place rules that prevent a timeout sort of defeat.

@RangoBongo @BossCrab
Baku's constitution sucks because he had gills this whole time, this match is the freest victory for him!

By the way, I love that the volume cover on Mangadex now adjusts to the volume that the translations are currently on! Thanks to whoever's been handling that!

Neatly taking care of the whole Kaiser/vests situation (probably). My first guess for cheesing it will probably come down to the mechanics of the air bios, I was wondering how having more bios would help unless they can be changed seamlessly, linked, etc.

I was under the impression that Poker could consist of many different games with similar winning conditions each, although the method of reaching them is different, so that'll be exciting. Kakerou could just invent a variation of a game and play that to throw things for a twist. I'm actually kinda hoping for some math with the card game odds, along with a healthy dose of bluffing.
And while it's a cool game, I'm still thankful it's not Mahjong lol.

I am also wondering how they will measure the winning condition. I trust a temporary/fake death situation is not possible, but I never bother to stand by anything with this series.

Browsing MangaDex is great again when I can expect chapters of Usogui. Many many thanks for this release schedule.

Holyshit, this game is absoluty insane... 😲 😲
Jesus... dying drowned is one of the worst death i can think for myself, i dont even know if i would rather get burned than be drowned.

@belkrax
tbh, i dont sense that more animosity from Lalo against Usogui than whathe's showned against people that touched his diamonds or such...

Yikes.

Guantanamo Bay huh. So that is the reason why Japan won't animate this manga huh. Pretty understandable considering the close ties good old US of A and Japan have with each other.

... it's been a long time I had forgotten that America did dabble in torture in the recent past. It's been just over a decade I think and yet how quickly time flies by and memories disappear. I'm getting too old.

On another note, Midari from Kakegurui would probably love this deathtrap. Speaking from experience, drowning is pretty terrifying particularly when you have got prior notice.

Terror comes from knowing after all.
