So wait, why did Baku max bet? Isn't that just hinting at him having a contingency plan? I mean, it looks like Lalo figured it out at the end of this chapter, so I'm a little confused.

Edit: Actually never mind. I'm dumb.

I was under the assumption that they both had the same amount remaining at the start of this round for some reason.

That'd be so hilariously stupid, we follow Baku the genius gambler until he dies to teach Kaji the true meaning of gambling. Sounds like some generic movie plot to be honest.

He didn't want to give Lalo enough time to figure something out, based on his thoughts. What that something is, I'm not sure.
 
The fact that Lalo figure out Baku trick is probably inside Baku plan as well. However, since that candy escaped Baku at the last panel, it probably a signal that it is not within Baku plan.
 
Is Baku betting on Hal making better hand than Fukurou ,because Fukurou won't be able to use the highest score hand?
 
Didn't baku use the glass to scribble on the table earlier? lalo should have wondered where he got a scribbling implement at that time
