oooo, realized the truth after 40 chapters - on the scale of Clueless Romantic Main Female Characters, I think that rates a 3. Unfortunately for her, the male lead is either as dense or in active denial.
Also, hearing lies =/= hearing people's wishes - she's heard plenty of lies that are intended to conceal malice. Context matters.

Kanoko-chan can't lie to herself about her own feelings thanks to her ability. This saves a lot of trouble for the whole "In denial" cliche trope in shoujo lmao. On the other hand, I feel a lot for Ranko I hope she truly does find her own happiness by the end of this manga.
