@Suck-a-duck while we don't completely see it some of the extras and the anime make it clear that the first year Hana would only see her sempai when he was alone and was actually worried about him not being able to socialize. Though I don't know if there's an explanation other then just the family quirkiness on why she's quite as annoying as she is.
