I think the ending was great tbh. It gives off this sense of uncertainty, and fits perfectly with the plot imo. Nitta was tryna make Kanoko a better person, and giving her this freedom was definitely the way to do so. Plus they still loved each other after 3 and a half years, so I think it is safe to say they will end up together no matter what tests time throws at them.

I’m a pretty vanilla guy myself (not that it matters, since I don’t think there was any NTR In this), though I can appreciate some good story when I see it. And I do see it in this manga - amidst all the softcore hentai - and I love it. I think it’s unfair to say that the romance only came during the last 3 chapters or so, it was obviously hinted, developed nicely and pretty well-executed all throughout the manga, notwithstanding all the deux ex machinas, of course. Loved the romance, personally. A short, monotone but relatively good story, definitely a fun read.

I liked the ending, the way I see what happen is this:

Leaving Japan is the way Kano closes that romantic chapter of her life, which is why she asked him if he wanted to go with her (one last try). Our boi knows that she has her whole life ahead, so he excuse himself in a way that she knows that he will be Okay and also reassures her that he will always be there for her.
