Nice people, but the good of the kingdom will be always and firmly more important than a single girl. They'll offer traps like the saint thing no problem, but they're not stupid enough to actually antagonize her.

In the end, they need her to kill things. They're just polite, respectful, and willing to pay. As much as they would like to give her proper parental figures, their relationship will never make it possible for them to act as her parents.
