Villains Are Destined to Die - Vol. 1 Ch. 42

I feel bad for the initial Penelope. This almost brought me to tears. It really was too late for her and if they had done this beforehand, she would have forgiven them. It's so sad. All she wanted was to feel accepted.
 
Fuck the Duke family and all their employees. Penelope (OG or not) never ASKS to live there. The Duke was the one who adopted her, and for what? to just abuse her? to vent for not being able to find the real daughter? Fuck off you all. That's not Penelope's fault. I feel really bad for OG!Penelope 😭😭😭😭😭
 
Honestly this whole series hurts me because she just wants love and acceptance, she wants to be told she's ok and it hurts to see this...I would've stopped reading if things weren't changing, but I'm still going to keep going until the end, because I want to see her have the happy ending she deserves, and finally, FINALLY tell them 'you changed too late, the damage has been done and I will never forgive you for the scars you gave me, just because I wasn't who you wanted me to be, jsut because I was me.'
 
This whole arc is probably my favorite, but I really love this part especially. It's fantastic writing. All of these people, the butler, her father, her older brother, they want to feel like they're good people. They don't actually give a damn about her and how much she suffers. Once she shoved her misery into their faces, then they all start tripping over themselves to fix it. But when they come to brag about how much they've done, it's always with an implication of "Be happy with this. Stop complaining". And that's the attitude that made the original her and Penelope put up with so much misery for so long. She just wanted to make her family love her, and she thought they would if she just beared with it. I honestly worry about the author, because this reads far too close to real life child abuse for comfort.

I started loving the story after "Too late". Because she won't let them get away with it. They can't gaslight her into thinking they're good people after all the things they've done. She holds them accountable for each and every thing, and her family will never get her love. It's far too late for that. But it's also extremely tragic that because she's not a fool, because she won't just forgive and forget everything, she'll never feel the familial love she craves so badly. This chapter brings to light the horrible reality that she's already broken, no matter what they do now she may never love again. If she ever does find it in her heart to trust someone, it could take years of healing, if ever.

Honestly I just want poor Penelope to find a guy who's parents just adopt her and treat her as their own daughter. She doesn't deserve to be stuck with a family this awful. And good lord, get her out of this hellish house.
 
I like so much the fact she doesn't forgive easily like other FL, cause hate and this anger is a TRUE feeling, that's how it's supposed to be. And man, I can't get to like her second brother at all, even in the future it seems that I'll be hating him.

It's not like they're doing this for her in the first place, they just want to think "I did something good for her, she should be grateful".

I don't care if any of these fucks get their redemption arcs, I can't and I won't forgive any of them for what they did to her. Honestly, between these two brothers, I don't know which of them that I hate more. After reading the novel, I can at least say that this pink boy has somewhat of a conscience. That's right. Between these two deplorables, this one is the lesser of two evils. Prepare yourselves for a wild ride y'all. 😐
 
I'm glad she's not forgiving them. This "kindness" is not even close enough to warrant forgiveness. They only acted because she finally called them out on their bs. The father got mad that she won't eat dinner with them but has completely ignored her and never treated her as family till now. What a bunch of hypocrites. Penelope deserves better
 
@Kaori Took the words right outta my mouth! I really really respect Penelope for being so strong both in her real life and this one. She doesn't deserve any of the shit she gets. And hah... The whole ducal house is so fucking hypocritic. They hated Penelope coz she acted harshly but its coz of these fuckers that she turned out like that in the first place. Honestly, all she was asking was for a warm family... That's not too much to ask! And the duke and the jerk brothers act like they didnt know what Penelope was going through. Bitch please, it's your own damn house. Stop with the senseless excuses. They don't deserve forgiveness no matter what they do!
I kinda hope our MC finds real familial love before a romantic one. Honestly, she deserves all the love in the world!
 
I think I’m going to cry. For the current Penelope whose heart is breaking for the Penelope who no longer exists. Her brother is absolute asshole. Just leave her alone!

The pink brother is a real immature little shit isn't he. And I like how much Penelope thinks about her previous self. They might have been friends I think, provided the og Penelope didn't self destruct. And as someone who isn't super happy with her family... I totally get not just swooning with happiness after they finally decide to clean up after years of being jerks. Too late.
