It's simple, she either feels responsible for him being here and him dying would on her conscience OR she's attracted to him (which wouldn't be that far-fetched).

Then again, the author could be setting up some love triangle drama (I hope not) as she's shown affection for thorfinn as well.

@vannn Doubt it with the triangle thing. The author is sticking to historical facts, minus the fictional parts for drama. In real life Thorfinn marries Gudrid and they move to Vinland.
