Because he can only summon one more monster for every 5 levels in his summoning skill plus the initial summons and he needs to fully seal more and more monsters in order to level it up and as seen with the dogs the amount of kills needed to seal a given monster just keeps going up.

It mentions that the summoner class even being an option for most players being rare and a significant amount of players who were interested in the game and joined at the start paid attention to the Beta and are aware that summoners are seen as a unfortunate class due to various restrictions and heavy penalties to them also the devs hate summoners you can see why I say this in the spoilers.

Extreme penalties to physical damage -70% and learning cost is 1000% of the base class costs in points to learn a skill, moderate penalties to magic at -30% and 300% point cost and the standard combat classes penalties to trade and production over all since summoners start with a book and no spells other than summoning without the summons you'd be better off with Mage, Fighter or Merchant classes. To top it all off the devs ban summons in the VERY FIRST game event a PvP tournament. I am correcting errors of in this as I am rereading the web novel might be different from the manga.

@08914 the devs dont "hate" summoners, they wouldnt add it as an option if they hated it... those are BALANCE traits... the devs made summoning massively OP so they made it hard to play and slow to get stronger, but once you grind it out its worth it... many games have a similar class, some devs purposefully make a very hard and slow grinding class but have it OP, its interesting to see just who plays it, and the best players who can deal with the draw backs end up becomming top tier

as for banning summons, thats most likely because again, the devs thought it would be too OP in a pvp fight (since a summon means you can turn a 1v1 fight into a 2v1 fight, or even 3v1 fight depending on your summon level) ...all drawbacks have a purpose, if the devs truely hated the class they wouldnt have made it

Not all summoners are like Yuu I assume they would not be as mobile due to utilizing magic more than melee.
Still your right in regards to him being "overpowered" just because he's ahead of the level curve.

why make a class hidden when you can delete a character and make a new one, spam it until you get that class O.,o

and its strange i played so many mmorpgs and never people sayed this class is just trash ..cause you know developer try to balance stuff
