I'm genuinely surprised by how blunt this chapter was about the fact that orientation matters and that the messiness of sexuality and gender is not an easily sidestepped thing, and that people's feelings when surrounded by prejudice are unfairly restrained and led to unhealthy directions because society doesn't acknowledge that they could be right. It makes you think, and it really does make me feel for the characters, and everyone this speaks to.
