I felt like, she may love him, but she is not a pedophile. She knew he adores her, and could make him do whatever she wants, closing him off from the world and making him entirely dependent on her for any sort of human interaction, and since he's a child, he won't know any better and follow her wholeheartedly, happy to be able to spend time with her. But she didn't give into those desperate thoughts (shown as narration in black background)
She wants him to grow, expand his horizons and then come back, so he knows better.

Lol how does it feel eating your own words? "The reviews will implode cuz shippers b dumb!1!!1" As if the entire comment section hasn't been full of people seeing her as an exclusively maternal figure or smt.
But hey, apparently"generic manga air of maturity" (?) now passes as legitimate criticism, so what do I know. Just please don't automatically equate realism to good writing in the future, especially in a story as realistic as this one.
