We Shall Now Begin Ethics - Vol. 4 Ch. 17 - Man in the Mirror

Fun chapter. Seeing such different personalities get involved in discussion like that is pretty amusing.

I like how the comments actually progressed into talking about the ethics of collectivism vs, individualism lol. The teacher's making even the Internet participate in the debate.

@LoLyeah I can see what you're saying, but the author was specifically criticizing socialism. In general, I think you're right that people with varying ideologies can succumb to malice or greed. I'm not going to sweat this manga's historical misconceptions too much tho because it's more concerned with philosophy.

Wow
I'm really enjoying taking time reading text bubble as i'm also self-inserting into the debate 😮
Probably my most fav chapter uwu

@paperelephant

In a way, what he says is true because the CIA is representative of the human malice that is American imperialism. Really is why the Stalinist conception of “socialism in one country” is a feverdream.

Damn,alt world Illuso is making a better use of his stand name.
Jojokes aside,this was a really good chapter. It's really hard to side with either ideologies because the points each of them made sense,so I can't really say/believe that one side is better than the other,but it was so great that we had the whole class interact with one another. Legit,just the fact we got to see the students of Ethics bounce off one another just made me very happy.
All-in-all,great chapter.

"Is it consensual?"

If an individual gave his/her consent to a group, does that make him/her a collectivist?
If you are a part of a collective and you don't agree with their way, does that make you an individual?

@DirkHardpeck
When she is talking about being at fault she is talking about the whole bulling on the group chat thing, not about being assaulted.

Aizawa is the one who have the most character development huh? I like it.

Also, it's nice to finally see all of them interacting in a discussion. There's like additional info where this three people actually in the same class as Iida (I don't remember we get which student in which class except Aizawa and glasses boy + the cheerful girl with freckles girl).

No everyone, it's not gonna end after the graduation. We will have another class of problematic student 👌.

I've read this yesterday but forgot to comment.
This is a perfect before-epilogue chapter. It's so refreshing from the usual chapters, too. I love it so much. I can't stop smiling as I read them interact, being the teenagers they are. It's amazing how this chapter is both heavy and light with sprinkles of comedy there and here at the same time. The characters, their thoughts and the discussion...everything is really charming.
It feels like all the individual drama arcs coming together in this chapter. Makes me really happy.
God, I love this manga so much it brings me to tears.

i'm a bit late on the thread, but i absolutely love this chapter. it's like an Ehtics Boss Battle, all the characters we've now come to know has to hash it out in the form of a debate, using the lessons they've been taught until now. even though the whole chapter is just the characters saying what they think, it becomes really engaging because of what's lead up to this in the previous chapters

Wow, even Soga got involved. Though given how everyone's jaws aren't dropping, evidently he's really not THAT much of a mute. Surprising he'd go to the point of actually writing his thoughts instead of talking, though- in a conversation like that, what is really the difference?

WOW TEACH I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU QUOTED MICHAEL JACKSON INSTEAD OF MAHATMA GHANDI ON THAT TOPIC
but that's culture, and I can respect it

>a guy praises a girl and the others go "oooooooooh"

Based author knows what's up with highschoolers

The students interaction alone makes this a damn great chapter

Soga is so based. Honestly, people who are "mute" like him are some of the best people. They aren't loud, they don't talk too much, and they don't let their emotions get in the way of putting together a conhesive and eloquent sentence. They're usually pretty chill too tbh.
