The writer screwed up badly in this chapter. The security check was started by the chief several days before he met the girl in her apartment. And the night he met her there he said he'd start in several days. So the check would have been announced a couple days, probably more like a week, before the girl met him in her room. And the check itself would have happened several days later. Yet, the entire reason why the bad guy is on to them is because supposedly the announcement and the check happened the day after the girl met our MC in her room. Which means this chapter here, and the bad guy being suspicious, should not have happened at all. Especially since it was the chief who made the call, not the MC. A chief not known for her genial personality, to say the least.
