I see it in the forms a lot lately and I know it’s somewhat related to hentai.

Btw, don't confuse futanari with traps.

Traps are boys that dress up to look like girls. So they are male, and normally boobless.

But the japanese word "futanari" translates to "[to be of] two kinds".
So a futa combines masculine and feminine characteristics.
They often look like girls with vaginadicks.

The term "dickgirl" has in my oppinion a different origin.
Graphic artists of pornographic art faced a dilemma about displaying their work with nude girls.
How can one still get a commition after showing the finished artwork online?
One possible solution : add a dick & balls.
Because people would still pay to see the original dickless version.
But that ironically also launched the dickgirl genre.

There is also the misconception where the non-binary "nongendered" character like an androgynous character where certain stimuli will determine their sex later.

Those characters sometimes get slapped into being "Trap" or "Futa" where they aren't, and kind of obscure an already difficult to determine classification. There were a few anime and a few mangas in the early noughties that had a character who fulfilled this role in an MC's harem.

While futa isn't one of the things I enjoy, I don't blanch away from either. Just another situational character in what every drama/comedy I'm reading at the time.
