Urgently need good PROOFREADER

May I ask what would you need to be qualified as a "good proofreader" ?
I'm not a native english/american/w/e but I'm quite confident in proofreading, I've worked on the EN->FR translation of Starbound for example.
But I'm still confused about what proofreaders need to do in the scanlation world, care to enlighten me a bit about this part ?

The proofreaders check the translation, both its grammar and flow and make sure everything is perfect. This is especially crucial with the translators that aren't the best in English, a good proofreader will make up for everything the translator is lacking.

Well, I wouldn't mind trying/taking a test.
I wouldn't consider myself as "good" since (btw, is "since" good to use here or must I use "as" ? This is an example of things that may be awkward for me sometimes, I'll remember it if I'm told about it tho) I don't know how "good" I am at this as I haven't even tried.
