Winner Takes All - Ch. 87 - Old friend

The rules and strategies of short deck / "6+" aren't "totally different". The only two differences in the rules are that Ace counts as 5 and that a flush beats a full house (because a straight and full house become easier to make in 6+, while a flush is harder to make). As for the strategies, all you have to do is assume your opponent's range of hands is... roughly 30% stronger at any given time than you assume in traditional hold 'em.

The intuition for short deck is something you have to relearn, but the math itself is remarkably straightforward.

Notably, Jack 10 becomes one of the strongest starting hands in short deck, roughly as playable as Ace King in regular hold 'em, simply because of the abundance of straights. But I wouldn't say that makes the strategies fundamentally different at all, you just have to be familiar with the adjusted math.
