I like that other apprentice. It's presently unknown if she's trying to get rid of Coco or perhaps using truly Spartan methods to force Coco to become a proper apprentice witch. Since Coco is the MC, it's unlikely she would fail, regardless of if it's true you can only try once and it wasn't only something Agete said to make Coco take the test seriously. So, let's say Agete thought Coco has a 20% chance to succeed (if 10 year olds can do it, it can't be super difficult), but if she pulls it off, it would instantly fix her attitude and problems, so it would be worth it. If she fails, nothing's lost as it would mean Coco didn't have what it takes to be a witch. If Agete only did this to get rid of Coco, I also wouldn't mind. Such things drive MCs forward, and in the end it's an ugly dog eat dog world. The sooner Coco learns that, the better.

This is pretty clearly not someone trying to help Coco with a firm hand sort of teaching style. I'd say she doesn't like how Coco basically fell ass backwards into an apprenticeship she worked her own ass off to get. She might not have been aware that the test site is the most dangerous it'll be all year, is about the best thing I can say for what she's doing right now.

She probably figured Coco will embarrass herself and only get some minor injuries at most, then get kicked out because the one shot at the test thing is probably true. However, what she doesn't seem to be aware of is that the adults want Coco around for reasons beyond teaching her. If anything, teaching her is an excuse to keep her around so they can use her to find who they want to.

It looks like a pretty typical "I started as an antagonist but ended up being a friend" sort of pattern. Got that whole "I hated you before we even met" vibe right now, but Coco will surely do something or other to wear her down and become besties.
